Goats Milk

It is our pleasure to announce that the International Symposium on Sheep and Goats Milk will be held during May, 16-18, 2011, in Athens.
Objectives of the Symposium:
The overall objective of the Symposium is to provide a
renewed vision of knowledge on husbandry and milk production,
technology, chemistry, physics, microbiology and nutrition and to
highlight the significance of markets and appropriate policies as they
have evolved since 2007. The event is addressed to scientists and other
professionals involved in the sheep and goat dairy sectors including
milk producers, dairy processing industry, trade associations, academia,
research institutes, and governments.
Specific objectives:
Create an opportunity to exchange ideas and strengthen existing links between countries involved with sheep and goat dairy production, between international organizations and institutes concerned with production, processing and nutritional qualities of sheep and goats milk products.
Enhance contact and communication between scientists and technologists, producers and manufacturers, nutritionists and analysts.
Stimulate improvement in the quality of the raw materials and the products and promote the expansion of existing and development of new markets.
Improve knowledge of the requirements of international markets concerning quality, safety, regulations and economics to assist the sectors to achieve these outcomes.
Lead to an improved image for the traditional products and to the development of new products and new markets.
Structure of the event:
The Symposium will consist of sessions devoted to the subject areas mentioned above. The Programme Committee will invite keynote speakers to present major review papers at the start of each session. Additional speakers will be selected from amongst the respondents to a call for paper abstracts evaluated suitable for oral presentation. Poster sessions will be organized in order to complement the conference sessions and to enable a large number of specialists to present the result of their work in this field. Oral and poster sessions will be open for presentation of work on milk of animal species other than cattle. Furthermore, technical tours have been arranged and participants are invited to visit traditional dairies in the region of Athens and to participate in social tours and events during the symposium.
